Die Mondfinsternis

Es gibt Sachen, die man einfach nicht verpassen darf und das unikate Ereignis der Sonnen- oder Mondfinsternis ist eines von denen. In der Mittwochnacht hatten die Himmelbewunderer eine Möglichkeit, die bis 2010 letzte totale Mondfinsternis zu beobachten, mit winzigen Erscheinungen am Saturn und dem leuchtenden Stern Regulus auf einer Seite des verdunkelten Vollmonds. Sie konnte aus Nord- und Südamerika gesehen werden, wobei in Europa und Afrika sie vor dem Sonnenaufgang am Donnerstag sichtbar war. Wie kommt es zu einer Mondfinsternis? Üblicherweise erfolgt sie dann, wenn der Vollmond in den Erdschatten tritt und dadurch vor Sonnenstrahlen, die ihn normalerweise beleuchten, blockiert ist. Die Sonne, die Erde und der Mond befinden sich in einer Linie, wobei der verdunkelte Mond für die Beobachter auf der nächtlichen Halbkugel sichtbar bleibt. Der Mond wird nicht vollkommen dunkel, da indirektes, durch die Erdatmosphäre strahlendes Sonnenlicht ihn noch immer erreicht. Für viele Leute in den Vereinigten Staaten stellt das Wetter einen Faktor dar, der sie von der Beobachtung der Monfinsternis abbringen könnte, aufgrund der Tatsache, dass bewölkter Himmel durch den Nationalen Wetterdienst vorhergesagt wurde, auch mit einer Wahrscheinlichkeit des Schneefalls im Landesinneren bis die Ostküste. Jack Horkheimer, Gast der PBS Show "Star Gazer", nannte das Ereignis "die Finsternis des Monds, des Herrn der Ringe und des Löwenherzens." Man erwartet, dass das astronomische Ereignis am Mittwoch gegen 19.00 Uhr beginnend an der Westküste und um 22.00 Uhr an der Ostküste stattfinden und ungefähr eine Stunde dauern wird. Man kann es ohne Augenschutz beobachten. Trotzdem empfehle ich eine spezielle Brille für die totale Sonnenfinsternis, die heuer in August stattfinden wird. Genießen Sie es!

Hacker wanted

Without any scruples now hackers even post ads on underground channels. If you were wondering what for are they posting, then you should know that they are looking for computer virus writers who are fluent in Mandarin, Russian or Portuguese. It is wired at a first look that they actually look someone knowing these languages, but in fact they are genius. These malicious code designers focus on programmers with foreign-language skills in order to launch country-specific attacks, according to security vendor McAfee Inc. Thus they now localize their targeting better software and sites popular in specific countries like peer-to-peer network applications in Japan, online gaming sites in China, and so on and so forth. Another factor that they keep in count by localizing is a country with lax law enforcement. McAfee Inc reported that due to the fact that 67 percent of spam is now written in English, they deduct a broadband penetration of attacks in non-English languages. The financial earnings make hackers more and more sophisticated about the baits that will work on their targets. David Marcus, security research and communications manager with McAfee, acknowledges that hackers are getting better and better and they are expanding their business to a global level. Therefore it is not surprising for them to have recruitment pitches that often take two forms: hackers looking to employ virus-writers to design spam and Web sites in local languages, and those wanting to trade malicious programs in different languages. It takes a lot of time to create a perfect malicious program and what is scary is that they are getting closer and closer to perfection and they are always looking for better ways of penetrating a user life. My, Myself and ?@&!$

If you are living in United States and being called O'Xyz, Al-Xyz or D'Xyz or having a space in your name or another for English unusual symbol it can be pretty difficult sometimes as computers and computer systems don't recognize apostrophes, gaps or hyphens. In the world where you don't have to do almost anything because we have technologies and devices that allow us to lead much more comfortable and convenient life, it's such a big deal when your name is not plain, apostrophe/gap/hiccup/whatever-free. Actually, it's much more worse in Europe I guess. Just think how many nations and nationalities with specific languages and rare alphabets and different grammar you can find here. And being from Slovakia, having Slovak name with all that special letters I know what the Americans are complaining about. Even in my passport there is not the right version of my name to make it a little bit easier for others. Once I cross the borders of my own country, I am not myself anymore. All over the world the computer keyboards vary from country to country. And in the most of countries the letters necessarily required for my name to be right written just miss. I have seen so many forms of my name! Some characters are missing, and some are brand new (such as $@& etc), making my own last name indistinguishable even for me, its proud owner! And it's not only about losing myself, it's about permanent fear of not be allowed to board the plane, of being requested to pay for something I have already paid, all of that just because of the wrong transcription of my name.

Oil prices rocket high

The next luxurious thing will probably be a car, not to mention the plane. If we take a closer look at the increase rate of the oil prices, we can see that we will afford less and less to fuel our car. In spite the fact that on Thursday a government report showing that the nation's crude oil supplies rose more than expected last week led to a slight fall in oil price, gas prices rose more than 3 cents overnight. According to the Energy Department's Information Administration crude oil inventories rose by 4.2 million barrels last week that is above the 2.9 million barrel increase forecasted by analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires, while supplies of distillates fell by 4.5 million barrels. Opinions on the oil price increase are divided, if many analysts think that due to the rising supplies and the falling demand noted in a number of recent reports oil prices are bound fall, there are others take into account that prices have spiked in recent days on buying fueled in part by investors attracted to the oil market by the falling dollar, therefore they expect gas prices to peak this spring well above last May's record of $3.227 a gallon. Like Tim Evans, an analyst at Citigroup Inc. in New York, says it, the difference of opinion leads to an unstable market. On the New Yorl Mercantile Exchange light, sweet crude for April delivery fell $1.47 to settle at $98.23 a barrel, while March oil reached a record high of $100.74 and a new trading record of $101.32 before expiring Wednesday. Tom Kloza, publisher and chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service in Wall, N.J, states that retailers are just trying to make up the difference and to assure that their pumps and tanks are completely clear of winter-grade gas by June 1 when the government requires summer fuel to be sold. Gasoline supplies rose also to a 14-year high with March gasoline futures settling at $2.522 a gallon on the Nymex Thursday, which could limit spring price increases. April Brent crude futures settled at $96.24 a barrel in London on the ICE Futures exchange. All this warns us to pay more attention to where we go and how much it will cost us, all our lives being nowadays conditioned by oil and gas.

Since July31 2007 Mr Rupert Murdoch is the new owner of the American publishing and financial information firm Dow Jones & Company. He spent $5 billion to gain the publisher of the The Wall Street Journal and now hopes to extend its worth even more. Murdoch is a well-known businessman and the owner of many newspapers all around the world such as The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, web page MySpace, The Twentieth Century Fox and many others. He studied Politics and Economics at the Oxford University, after his studies started to work as a managing director of News Limited and gradualy became one of the most influential men in the world. As he says, one of the most important things in business is to be motivated: "In motivating people, you've got to engage their minds and their hearts. I motivate people, I hope, by example - and perhaps by excitement, by having productive ideas to make others feel involved." If you wonder what I the secret to success, Murdoch says "I try to keep in touch with the details... I also look at the product daily. That doesn't mean you interfere, but it's important occasionally to show the ability to be involved. It shows you understand what's happening.

Steve Jobs is worldwide famous businessman, who is more than just a manager. He is great visionary and he always thinks of future even before we all do. Although he made some mistakes during his business career, he is an amazing strategist and creator. If he didn't try to prototype something, he wouldn't be able to see the success or deficiency of his products. Anyhow he was able to create and kept the Apple empire up for decades. He started to do computer business in the time he was very young but he had visions and strategies for the future. He is unpredictable and aggressive player who lives for his ideas. He is innovative and fearless CEO of his lifetime kid Apple that was forged by him from the top to the bottom. He takes an example by the saying someone has told him long time ago: "Manage the top line, which is your strategy and your people and your products and the bottom line will follow." Another example of his business rules he takes from the Beatles who were able to produce breathtaking music even not all the members were as good as their final music was. He is saying that "Total is greater than some of the parts and great things in business are never done by one person, they are done by a team." That is the strategy for Apple that has special place in the world technique market for years. Steve Jobs doesn't try to compete with Microsoft anymore; he creates his own marvelous devices such as iPod and his new iPhone that mean revolution in the computer industry. He is going his own way just like he always did and this way made him the most successful manager in the nowadays world.

Ked niekto zomrel, plakali, ked sa niekto narodil, boli stastni, ked bol cas spievat a oslavovat, oslavovali. Ludia zili v harmonii s prirodou a vyuzivali jej vyhody. Samozrejme medicina nebola taka vyspela ako je dnes a ked sa objavila nejaka choroba a oni nevedeli ako ju liecit, museli sa vyrovnavat s umieranim svojich blizkych. Ale tak isto umieranie malo predtym uplne iny vyznam. Ludia vedeli, ze bolo sucastou ich zitia. Existuje zaciatok ako aj koniec a oni to respektovali. Respektovali ak ludia museli ist a oni ich odist nechali. Dnes o tom odmietame co i len hovorit. Ludia sa sa snazia byt mladymi pocas celeho svojho zivota a umelo si predlzuju mladost, odmietaju umierat. Ludia v minulosti nemali vela prostriedkov na znizovanie vyskytu chorob ako je napriklad mor, ktory vzal zivoty milionom ludi v Europe, Azii a Afrike. Snazili sa postarat o pacientov tak dobre ako len vedeli a ked sa pominuli, snazili sa vyrovnat s ich odchodom a ist dalej. Dnes mame vo svete omnoho ine choroby ako je mor. Je tu AIDS, SARS, rakovina a vtacia chripka, ktore udrziavaju vyskumnikov pri praci a ludi obozretnych bez ohladu na to, co prave robia. Dnesna situacia je dokonca tazsia, pretoze ludia maju tendenciu vela cestovat, co moze pomoct k rychlemu sireniu pandemie. Existuju iste predpovede a obavy zo strany OSN, Svetovej banky a Svetovej zdravotnickej organizacie, zahrnujuce mutaciu virusu, ktory sposobuje vtaciu chripku. Niektori vedci sa boja, ze by tento virus mohol ludi v buducnosti nakazit ovela jednoduchsie a sirit sa ovela rychlejsie ako v minulosti. Celebrity maju zvycajne zlozite zivoty, a i tak sa najdu na svete ludia, ktori namiesto toho, aby im zivot ulahcovali, zarabaju peniaze a tom, ze im ho strpcuju. Britsky spevak Morrissey ma s tymto nedavne skusenosti. Britsky magazine New Musical Express (NME) publikoval interview so spevakom, v ktorom udajne povedal, ze Britania straca svoju identitu kvoli rastucemu poctu imigrantov. Jeho vyhlasenie zjemnil tym, ze dodal, ze: " nesedim tu a nevravim, ze je to strasna vec, vravim, ze je to realita a pre mnohych je to sokujuce". Strajk v Taliansku paralyzuje krajinu

Pracovnici talianskych zeleznic dnes rano zacali seriu strajkov, ktore pocas dna zahrnu aj zamestnancov v leteckej, cestnej a namornej doprave. Celkovo ma strajkovat zhruba 300 000 pracovnikov dopravy, informovala agentura DPA. V zeleznicnom sektore sa osemhodinove prerusenie prace zacalo o 9 hodine rano. Stovky letov maju byt zrusene na hlavnych letiskach krajiny v Rime a Milane, kde sa osemhodinovy strajk zacal o 11 hodine. Vodici a obsluha autousiv, elektriciek a mera zastavia pracu v jednotlivych talianskych mestach v roznych casoch. Strajky organiyuju hlavne talianske odborove zvazy na protest proti redukcii financnych prostriedkov pre oblast verejnej dopravy na nasledujuci rok. Protesty sa viazu k neuspechu vyriesit dlhotrvajucu financnu krizu v statom kontrolovanej leteckej spolocnosti Alitalia a narodnej zeleznicnej spolocnosti Trenitalia. Winter storm

Who would have thought that in the middle of winter there will be a storm that will lead to the panic and torment of thousands of people. A massive storm dropped sleet and freezing rain across much of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Iowa causing many deaths due to glistening, ice-covered roads and downed power lines that not only have lead to dozens of fires in Oklahoma, but also represents a problem when it comes to warming because officials cautioned that electricity may not be restored for days, if not weeks. A million utility customers were struggling without electricity in the nation's midsection after the unexpected storm. On Tuesday in Oklahoma nearly 600,000 homes and businesses remained without electricity and it was registered as the worst power outage that the state has ever gone through. Besides there were registered problems even with the traveling and 560 flights were canceled at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, while hundreds of other flights were badly delayed. Education was also affected and in Oklahoma schools were closed for a second day with canceled classes in Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin, including the Milwaukee district, with 85,000 students. There were declared state of emergencies in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma the state that suffered enough damage to determine President Bush to declare a federal emergency and order government aid to supplement state and local efforts. The official figures show 23 deaths in the Midwest, 15 in Oklahoma because of cars skidding off highways, trees and power lines snapping under the weight of ice, and all other incident created by the frozen conditions. More than 100 fires reported in Tulsa and Oklahoma since the storm began and the volunteer fire department in the small Kansas town of Durham had to solve for the first time a major situation like the one that took place. Furthermore, The Federal Emergency Management Agency sent 50 industrial generators to Oklahoma for hospitals, water-treatment plants and emergency shelters, and later on another 50. Like always FEMA provided blankets, cots and pre-packaged meals. The good news is that the cold air that caused the freezing drizzle in Oklahoma moved forward, according to The National Weather Service in Norman. However, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa were the next ones on its list. Weather is revenging badly upon people and the most advanced technology can face its wrath. Disappointed investors

On Tuesday Fed finally cut interest rates by a quarter point, disappointing investors who hoped the central bank would lower up to a half-point. Their disappointment led to stock's fall on Wall Street and there are new concerns on where the economy is heading, if indeed will overcome the credit and mortgage crisis. Counting on the fact that the Fed would do all it could to prevent the economy from slipping into recession, investors made good deals on the market and the stocks were up in the last two weeks. However, their views and those of the central bank did not match, although the Fed said on Tuesday that the new rate cut is supposed to propel the economic growth over time. The statement was categorised by Bill Knapp, economist and chief investment strategist for MainStay Investments, a division of New York Life Investment Management as being a clear and firm affirmation of the fact that the Fed think the rate has been cut enough. The rate cut was accompanied by a lowering of the discount rate (the interest it charges banks for loans) by a quarter-point to 4.75 percent, making it easier for banks to obtain the cash they need for year-end obligations. Moreover, the assurances that further cuts are possible if a severe downturn in housing and a crisis in mortgage lending worsen should have ease investors preoccupation, but it didn't. As it is, the Dow fell 294.26, or 2.14 percent; The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 38.31, while the Nasdaq composite index fell 66.60, or 2.45 percent. The 10-year Treasury note's yield, which moves opposite the price, fell to 3.97 percent from 4.16 and the dollar was way behind other currencies. Only bond prices rose a little bit and the bad thing is that oil price raised too, but not that much as it was last month and settled on the New York Mercantile Exchange at $90.02 per barrel. Bruce McCain, head of the investment strategy team at Key Private Bank, explained that Fed's decision has much to do with the fact that the former cuts still have to work their way into the economy. No matter the tactics applied by Fed, the banking suffered the consequences and Washington Mutual Inc. became the latest lender to resort to a massive stock sale to shore up its finances after Citi Bank and Switzerland-based UBS AG. Crazy winter

The winter has already arrived. This sentence meant, in the past years, beautiful white snowflakes falling from the sky, frozen lakes full of ice skating people and a lot of winter fun. But as the global threats get more serious, the seasons start to go crazy. The summer time was incredibly hot and now the winter changes the land into the north pole. Someone could say: "It can't be that bad?!", but the Americans know better. The United States of America have been surprised by a sudden snow storm this week. Especially the central states like Oklahoma or Kansas were struck very heavily. It let almost 500 000 homes and businesses without power when it took down power lines, trees and made the road impassable. Therefore many emergency shelters of the Red Cross have already been filled with people who couldn't stand the lack of power. In other states the problems have not been that bad, but still a big part of schools canceled their classes and the snow caused a lot of traffic jams. But the worst is not over. The weather specialists forecast another cold blast for Friday. One hit after another. The recovery time was not enough to overcome the difficulties from the first storm and here comes the other. As a consequence the region is preparing them selfs, since they don't want the situation to get completely out of their hands. "We get crews out around three in the morning to examine the roads and the bus routes and determine whether or not they are safe," says Clarence Stukes of Arlington County School. "As soon as the first flake comes down, we have the salt trucks going out," said VDOT spokesman Mike Salmon. It looks like the situation will get under control with all these preparations made, and we can only hope that the weather is going to unbend and won't destroy the rest of what's left, so that the people can return to their home and live their normal life.

Christmas travel

Snow, white blanket everywhere you look, quiet piece, typical for the Christmas Eve, just the sound of the bell comes from the tower of the village church at the midnight. Nothing disturb slowly falling snow flakes, lonely snowmen stare to the dark but smile anyway. Nobody should be alone for Christmas. Christmas are holidays when the whole family meets in one room. Sometimes the only day per year, when people forget about their problems and arguments. In my family we use to quarrel quiet lot during the day of Christmas Eve. Everybody is nervous about how the evening will look like, if everything is prepared properly,... but in the evening we just stop and forget about it. Don't even think about it. It is like a long journey. Whole year everybody goes his own way and on December 24th we come back to the starting point again to share our experiences, joy of seeing each other, worries, delights, and, not on the last place, gifts. For my grandfather the biggest gift is our presence. He lives alone and each year he welcomes us at his place with supper he prepared by himself without helping hand of anybody else. I am proud of him and can't imagine to spend Christmas without him. I love to travel to see my family. Especially in Christmas time. Around my city, around my country and around Europe as well. At least this year it would be this way. Till the New Years Eve, which I am going to spend abroad. And then, another year will come, another time of exploring the world and looking forward for Christmas to meet my dears.

Christmas fluctuation

This year Christmas Eve is falling on Tuesday what means people will take advantage of that as well as take days off during the Christmas week. With the constantly increasing number of 2.5 million Britons looking for a holiday away from home during the Christmas period, this December holiday is becoming one of the most popular seasons to travel, according to new research. Will Maddie be back by Christmas ?

The private investiagtor revealed yesterday that Madeleine McCann could certainly be home for Christmas. Francisco Marco, the director of Barcelona-based Metodo 3, claims Maddie is being held by paedophiles somewhere in the Iberian Peninsula or North Africa. The investigators are still gathering the proof, but Marco is fairly certain which group of paedophiles is responsible for the abduction. He does not know whether she is still alive. Three-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday apartment of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz in Portugal on May 3, while her parnts were having a dinner in a nearby restaurant. There have been various concerns about who could be responsible for her kidnap, including speculations that her parents had managed the whole incident. Kate and Gerry McCann were suggested to have accidentally killed their own child in the holiday apartment and then disposed of her body. Seeing these suggestions and documented by some inconspicious evidence, they were made official suspects three months ago. Portuguese police sources are regularly quoted giving details about the McCanns' role in their daughter's disappearance. The lead public prosecutor must now decide if there is sufficient evidence to bring charges against them, if he needs to request the police to carry out further investigations or if the case against them should be dropped. The couple have earlier denied any involvement and have appealed for police to concentrate on the theory that their daughter was abducted by a stranger. The police have been sceptical about the recent claims saying McCanns could possibly have Maddie home by Christmas. However, the investiagtors remain optimistic. Mr Marco strongly hopes for a positive result. "I have to believe it 100 per cent because I know how to look for living people, not dead ones."

Christmas tree in flames

Fallbrook firefighters put out the fire on Gird Road on Monday. The damage was probably caused by a Christmas tree, which was situated too close to a fireplace. The fire was only in one part of house. Other ones are quite in good condition; there was just a smoke from the blaze. Fortunately, John Buchanan of the North County Fire Protection District said, that no one was hurt. On the other side, the damage is estimated to $50,000. The tips how to keep your house from the fire are following: Choose artificial tree tested and labeled as fire resistant. Artificial trees with built-in electrical systems should have the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) label. One of the possible solutions is to ask for advice of the most capable of all. The distinguished chef. In this case we are talking about one of the best ones & Heston Blumenthal. Heston Blumenthal has been described as a culinary alchemist for his innovative style of cuisine. Currently, he is running his own restaurant The Fat Duck as well as a television program. Saakashvili is reeelected, opposition protests

Mikhail Saakashvili won another term of election over the weekend. With nearly all of the votes counted after Saturday's poll, remains Georgia's president. However, his opponents accused him of fraud and said they would challenge the election results in court. Although all figures were in line with pre-election polling predictions, this election invited huge disaffectedness in this small former Soviet country. The main opposition candidate, Levan Gachechiladze, refused to concede the results. He claimed that a fraud tainted the election and called for street protest in the case his concerns of holding second round of voting were not addressed. The protest took place on a snowy square in the city and dispersed by early Sunday afternoon on a major holiday in Georgia. "We have won despite pressure, despite intimidation, despite televised terror exerted against us," Gachechiladze said at the rally of several thousand people. Despite having about one year left in his five-year term, Saakashvili called the election early hoping for winning a new mandate to govern, after ordering a police crackdown on protests and declaring a state of emergency Nov. 7. , Over 500 people were wounded in the dispersing of demonstrators, none fatally. Georgia is the third-largest contributor of troops in Iraq, after only the United States and Britain, and has deployed 2,000 soldiers there. How To Become A Hero

This could be an instruction what to do if you would like to be a hero. First of all, you should be young, brave, smart, not afraid to take a dare. You have to keep your eyes open and think little bit faster than all the others do. Do not forget, there is also a dark side of being a hero. Probably it will hurt a lot. You have to be prepared that you can be injured (sorry, but when you are a hero, danger is part of your job). Then you should be at a right place on a right time so you can save something or somebody (hero professionals recommend the second alternative). The best place is a public place crowded with people (the best situation is a crowd without another hero among it). You should pay your attention to the special occasions, people who play important role in a public life, for example people who are running for president or already are ones. Sure, you can save someone who is not well known, it depends on how much you want to be on public. You should chose a country, it is recommended to chose the one that is little bit turbulent as there is a greater chance that "something" will happen. What can help you a lot when becoming a hero is being a part of Scout Movement. It is not necessary but it could be helpful as the scout training is being aimed at "physical, mental and spiritual development" so the scouts "may play constructive role in society" and are always prepared. And than it is just your turn to show the whole world your abilities. This could not be an instruction what to do if you would like to be original. You can ask 15-year old Mohammed Ibrahim (who is a Boy Scout by the way) what it means to be a hero, what it means to stop the man who was trying to assassinate Maldives President Maumoon Gayoom by grabbing his knife. And you can also ask him what it means to get hurt as his was injured and could not move his fingers.

Tracing back history

Henry David Thoreau who lived from 1817 to 1862 was an American author, naturalist, transcendentalist, tax resister, development critic, and philosopher who is best known for "Walden", a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings that he discovered during a two-year retreat in a small house on Walden Pond, in his hometown of Concord, Mass. There are many scholars that are still treading on his work and try to get the essence of it. A retired longtime editor of Vermont Life magazine called Tom Slayton, age 66, read three years ago "Walden" and he was instantly seduced by it, thus deciding to visit the author's other earthly muses and make a book of it. After a careful preparation he went on a three years quest in New England searching for Thoreau. As a result, a 240-page paperback entitled "Searching for Thoreau: On the Trails and Shores of Wild New England" was released describing in lyrical detail the flora, fauna and all the paths Thoreau walked 150 years ago, from Cape Cod, Walden Pond, to Maine's Mount Katahdin. Costing $ 18.95, Slayton's book that staring December can be found on bookshelves all over US, is a literary analysis of "Walden" and other lesser-known Thoreau works with descriptions of Slayton's visits to the places that inspired Thoreau and his own perception of the places visited. His narration reveals a raging wilderness of Gothic peaks, plugs of granite and breathtaking views. The expectations regarding this book are high and although Slayton says he's just a journalist trying to get people's interest into the Walden Universe. Will he succeed? That's up to you: the buyer.

An extraordinary ice art

Did you know that also such an young and extraordinary kind of art as ice sculpture and ice painting has its own museum? Even it is just temporarly, you can admire these masterpieces in new Museum of Modern Ice in Chicago. This winter it is one of the many sights and actions that city has prepared to attract the visitors. Museum of modern ice is actually an art installation at Millenium Park, which is going to be displayed since 1-29, February 2008. This year tourists and also Chicago citizens can admire U.S. debut of cannadian artist Gordon Halloran. Halloran will show his biggest and most spectacular ice installation named Paintings bellow Zero, which is an enormous massive ice wall all coloured measuring 95 feet long and nearly 12 feet tall. One side of the wall should echoe renowned Chicago skyline and the other, full painted is "inspired by glacial wall in its final stages of movement towards the ocean." This should attract visitors to come back frequently to see the activity of the ice wall evolved by natural and planned changes. Another Halloran's displayed work will be painted ice rink, which people could skate on. He first developed this idea of painting on ice in early 90's when observed reflection of moon on the ice rink and he was fascinated with it. In 2006, Halloran showed his art as theCanada's representative at the Cultural Olympiad of the Olympic Winter Games in Turin. To create his spectacular paintings, Halloran uses portable refrigeration technology based on aluminium plates, which efficiently conduct the cold.

Amazing Whistler

If you are one of those who are tired from city, cars, its smell and constant noise you will probably welcome a change. Even though there is probably only few places on this planet where you could be completely alone, there are still places where people won't interrupt you but help you to feel more comfortable and relaxed. One of such places has name Whistler Village. First of all I should probably tell you it is not such isolated place, actually it is a center which has its own town hall, fire and police station, you can even find there museum, library, shops and go for a lunch into more than 90 restaurants. Now you are probably saying: "OK but I want to take a rest, I don't want to talk to people what, honestly, I am doing whole the time I am in the city." But I think as soon as you see this place you will love doesn't matter how many people is there! Whistler is a city and a part of ski center Whistler Blackcomb in Canadian British Columbia. It has more than 9 thousand inhabitants and more than 2 million visitors come here during a year. This little city lies about 44 kilometers from the city Squamish and these days it is known as one of the best ski resorts in North America. Ski season usually starts in November and ends sometimes in June & for skiing is used higher Blackcomb Mountain. However if you are one of those who love to ski in the summer then this place would be a heaven for you, because summer skiing and snowboarding season is scheduled to run through July. Of course you don't have to ski all the time. This place is known also for its great mountain-biking conditions. So what do you think? Are you ready to visit this incredible place? If you do, prepare your wallets, this place is not called gorgeous paradise just like that! Only standard daily lift ticket costs $ 81, and if you wanna learn how to ski & one group lesson for adults including lift ticket costs $ 77. The fact there is everything what a man could need during his holidays makes this place quite expensive. This place besides this also won Livable Communities Award in 2005 and in 2010 it should be the place where Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will take place. Tickets, tickets, tickets!

How do you like buying fly tickets? I hate it. I really don't like, when I have to sit in front of the computer for hours and searching all the internet sites to find the cheapest ticket. And I'm always mad because I can't find anything good and when I find something that would fit me, it has some catch. You can't change the date or the cancel conditions are inconvenient. I know that buying the ticket through some agency is easier, but who wants to pay agency for thing you can do by yourself. But to be honest, I used agency many times, because I'm not going to have a nervous breakdown because of ticket. Ticket is the most important part of your trip. Without ticket you are lost. You can't get your boarding pass, because that one you can get only with a valid ticket. And without boarding pass you can't fly. This problem you can usually have when you have paper ticket. With electronic ticket you need only your reservation number and they will print your ticket directly on the airport. This is my favorite way how to book tickets, because I'm able to forget that printed one anywhere. Electronic one I can save to my mobile phone or it is still in my mailbox. I was trying to find what is usually in the price of the fly ticket. Main part of it is price for the fuel, which is still higher. Other parts are for administration and for the services you have on the board. But this is different every time, and it depends where and which company you are flying with.

Stevie Wonder to headline NO Jazz Fest

It is not the first time for Stevie Wonder to perform at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, yet it is the first time he is going to headline the event. The Louisiana Fest brings some unforgettable music, along with traditional cuisine of the region and crafts from all over the world. It is only 90 days left till this year's Jazz Fest as it is held over two weekends April 25-27 and May 1-4 at Fair Grounds Race Course located 10 minutes from famous French Quarter. Organizers will install 11 stages in the location together with tents for over 1,000 performers. Besides Stevie Wonder headliners include The Neville brothers, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Keyshia Cole, Al Green, The Raconteurs and others. And of course Jazz Fest veterans Santana, Dr. John and Jimmy Buffet. The last time Wonder performed at the Fest was in 1973 together with the Meters, founded by Art Neville. This year he will perform on May 2. Among his hits are "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours}", "I Just Called to Say I Love You", "My Cherie Amour", "Superstition". "Over the past 20 years he hasn't really been touring, so we feel really fortunate," said Quint Davis, the producer of the festival.

US elections: Romney versus McCain

American presidential elections are becoming very unpredictable velocity. After White House bid resignation of Democratic candidate Edwards on Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney brought an accusation against his competitor John McCain that he is using wicked tactics of Richard Nixon, former president. Romney did not like the fact that McCain was in favor of a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq, and said: "I don't think I want to see our party go back to that kind of campaigning." Mc Cain decided to level the timetable charge this week and Romney had no chance to respond before Republican elections in Florida. Romney regarded this situation as "reminiscent of the Nixon era". Romney "is lashing out because he's unable to defend his comments about a timeline, albeit a secret one .... John McCain has simply pointed out a fundamental difference between them at the time when John McCain was advocating a strategy for victory," this was the reaction of McCain's advisor Steve Schmidt. Romney is now working on campaign of $2 million to $3 million. He is preparing ads for five days, which will be broadcasted in most media markets in California, and on cable channels and local networks, too. His aim is to attract people in key states. Similar goal has also McCain, who would like to run high volume of commercials on national channels and key states, too. However, folks of America can now choose from 4 candidates to commit their votes. Democrats Hillary Rodman Clinton and Barack Obama and Republican candidates Mitt Romney in oppose to John McCain are still in game.

Wall Street finally advanced

Borders and hunger

Borders, nations, states, religions & we are all divided according to these classes. Instead of being free people and trying to understand every culture and every living creature we are constantly fighting against each other. "Hey! You mustn't come in this way! It is my land!" Sometimes it makes me crazy when I realize it is truth and this is really going on. We are still reading new articles about Gaza and all those conflicts connected to it, but honestly I am a bit confused. These days its all about blockades between Egypt and Palestine & while Egyptian forces used cement and sandbags to seal gaps Hamas militants blasted it tonight and so enabled thousands of Gazans go through Egypt's territory. Imagine you are living in a small territory controlled by someone else, you have nothing to eat and your relatives are dying because of absence of medicaments. I don't want to apologize them, but when are people desperate, they have no food and other needed goods what can we expect? There is no surprise Palestinian civilians are doing anything to get so much needed food and some sources say there are more than 50,000 Palestinians who crossed the borders and entered into Egypt's area, and still another 20,000 people are waiting in Rafah. Although this massive kind of riots lead to big exodus Egyptian police reinforcements didn't take any negative and violent steps. On the other hand they had to arrest 15 Hamas militants who tried to cross Egyptian territory with weapons and explosives despite warnings. Although Tel Aviv finally allowed fuel delivery to one power station in Gaza Strip and also supplies of gas, food and medicaments, the absence of the most needed raw materials will stay for longer time.

It seems that from local broadcasts to famous -Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?-, people like to challenge themselves. A risk gains the double! The more difficult question, the larger cash prizes...and the larger loss as well. According the Television and Media statistics in America, the rating swiftly increased while broadcasting those kind of TV shows. Million of people found themselves stuck on TV screen, answering all sorts of contestant's questions. Depression

Who don't have a wish to visit USA?! Ok, maybe it isn't everybody's wish but most of us who have never been there before, would like to go there. It is center of shooting, shopping, home of popular persons etc. Everyday we can read about some news concentrated from USA or watch some American's movies. In these days we can read about it a lot because newspapers are full of information about American economy. To be honest I am not professional but I would say that it could be the strongest economy of the world. It was like this but today it isn't anymore. Economy is in depression. All analysts, economists try to find something what could change this situation. It is quite difficult because of deficit about 250mld USD and it is still expected to reach for this year and next. President Bush also try to do something for it. On Monday he will present his budget for the new fiscal year to Congress, where it is unlikely to gain much traction in the midst of a presidential campaign. He has promised a plan and by this way he will try to erase the budget deficit by 2012. Then he will propose about 178 billion USD in savings from Medicare over five years. Deficit could decline by this plan but there are also some people against it. David M. Walker, the U.S. comptroller general said that runaway health care costs was only one thing that could bankrupt America. Maybe people don't realize it but there are a lot of thing which depend on America and its economy, for example the prices of oil or employment.

Age Of Technology And Entertainment

Sometimes I think about the past. About the past without computers (what means no Mac, no PC), without cell phones of any kind, without DVDs or Blu-ray discs, without music and video players (what means no iPod, no Zune Player), without LCD, without GSP, without hard disk drives or flash memories (what means no USB, NANDs, SSDs or SD cards), without digital cameras, without game consoles (what means no PlayStation, no Xbox), without Internet and social networking sites? I think about the past without any up-to-date software or hardware or equipment. What the hell were people doing all the time without all these things we consider inevitable to have some fun? Fortunately, I was born into the world full of stuff that allows you to enjoy all the entertainment that is available and enjoyable (and moreover, usually price-friendly). And even if you are exhausted of having fun, you just can watch what's new in the world of technology and entertainment. Who rules the industry? Who is number one? Who is the inventor with fresh and phenomenal ideas and who is just follower? What's the latest feature? Well, the past had to be tough. Whatever. Present seems to be futuristic sometimes. And present or future are entertainment, good ideas and connection between individuals (who are lacking for some fun) and companies (such as SigEx Telecom which makes it possible). It includes constant communication, sharing your thoughts via blogs, websites, video mails, uploading and sharing videos through on-line TV broadcasting, enabling people to have their share of fun by delivering media products and services to them wherever they live.
